2 weeks agoAmazing place with fantastic architecture. I was quite speechless seeing it in person. Not religious but I can truly respect the amount of effort that was gone into this place of worship. Definitely worth checking out but also be mindful of those praying there. Would not recommend if there is a service going on but otherwise nice place to see if you’re in the area.

a month agoBinondo Church, officially known as the Minor Basilica of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, is a historic Roman Catholic church located in Binondo, Manila. Established in 1596 by Spanish Dominican missionaries, it is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. The church was built to serve the Chinese converts to Christianity, reflecting the fusion of Spanish and Chinese cultures. The church features a striking mix of architectural styles, including Baroque influences and Neoclassical elements. Its facade is characterized by intricate stone carvings and massive pillars. The iconic octagonal bell tower is one of its most distinctive features, rebuilt after destruction during World War II. Inside, the church boasts a beautifully painted ceiling, grand chandeliers, and an altar dedicated to Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino saint, who was born and raised in Binondo. The church is not only a place of worship but also a cultural and historical landmark, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike.

3 months agoA historic gem in the heart of Binondo. The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz is not only a place of worship but a symbol of resilience. Although it was heavily damaged during World War II, the church has been beautifully restored, with its iconic bell tower still standing as a reminder of the past. The architecture and peaceful atmosphere make it a meaningful stop for those interested in history, culture, and faith. A must-visit when exploring Manila’s vibrant Chinatown.
