Minor Basilica & National Shrine is the Quiapo Church in Quiapo, Manila. The mass is only almost every day for churchgoers. At the back of the Church are peddlers of devotion candles sold in bundles, where each color represents a desired petition, and so the herbal plants with barks used as therapeutic natural healing tea as well like Makabuhay vines. They have abortifacent oils but are still discouraged, yet they continue it to be sold.

Beautiful historical church in the middle of the city. The church offering hourly mass. In order to get in, you will need to wait at the front of the church where the big square is located (I believe there’s another waiting area at the left wing of the church). It can get very crowded leading to the start of each mass. I was there at 9.30am for a 10am Sunday morning mass. There were already at least 50-100 people waiting. You can see my picture below to gauge the crowd close to 10am. They will allow the previous attendees exit from the right wing and start opening the gate once they have empty the church, very well manage! Once I get inside, I was able to get a seat and it was very windy. I had a wonderful Sunday mass and the experience has been very pleasant thanks to the well organized committee members :)

Minor Basilica of San Sebastian and Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is founded in 1621 and was completed in 1891. It is the only steel church in the Philippines and is an example of Neo-Gothic architectural style. It was designated as a National Historical Landmark in 1973 and as a National Cultural Treasure in 2011. Honestly, it was my first time going inside this church and it needs a rehabilitation in terms of how they can prolong and revive the structure.

It's a nice experience to visit the church, even though it's becoming increasingly crowded with vendors. The devotees of the Black Nazarene still make the pilgrimage, despite the growing number of vendors. As always, it's important to be mindful of your belongings.

Quiapo church has been such a blessing to many Filipinos. It’s heartwarming to see many people have strong faith to God. 🤍
