10 months agoAmazing Japanese restaurant. My wife have shellfish allergy, but their shellfish dishes didn't trigger to her, which mean the ingredients super fresh and safe. Service also nice and friendly. Highly recommend business meeting or hang out with friends.

10 months agoMalate has always been a melting pot of different cuisines around the world but lately the ones left are just mostly Korean and Japanese. Of the many Japanese restaurants, Royal Sakura is definitely a standout. Upon entry, we were directed upstairs because there was literally no more seats at the ground floor. We ordered caterpillar roll, Sakura special roll, sashimi 3 kinds, salmon, Tonkatsu set, chicken teriyaki set, Ebi ten don set, Tori Karaage and kaisen chijimi. I can easily recommend their set meals as they come with soup, salad and dessert. Of the set meals we ordered, the Ebi tendon and chicken teriyaki were the clear winners. The eel in the caterpillar roll had that yummy glaze on top. I also loved the Kaisen Chjimi or seafood Korean pancake. This place is really a standout in taste, value and service. My advice is to drop by before meal times as they only have very limited street parking.

a year agoFirst time to try out this restaurant and was not disappointed! Parking was not difficult when we arrived, but I assume that it's difficult to find parking at other times of the day since it's only street parking. Kuya guard was helpful and assisted us in parking, just let him know that you're going to dine! From the getgo, staff was very accomodating and very courteous. Once sat down, we were approached by a staff and was offered of what we assume as fresh and limited ingredients they have for the week. We ordered the Nama Maguro which consists of 3 kinds of tuna sashimi (ootoro, akami, chutoro), Wagyu Sukiyaki, and the Una Gyu. Everything tastes fresh and cooked perfectly! You have the option to cook the sukiyaki yourself, but we had the staff cook the sukiyaki for us. The menu says that the sukiyaki was only good for 1, but we found that it can be good for 2 people for that amount of food. I think the only negative I can say is that the rice for the Una Gyu lacks that distinct taste of japanese rice. Overall, our experience is great and would definitely come back here again to try other stuff on the menu!
