Please review the mass schedule and arrive as early as possible. The parking area was somewhat congested, although some vehicles were permitted to park outside. Nevertheless, the objective is to pray & find peace The Basilica of San Sebastian Church is one of the most impressive churches in Manila. It holds the distinction of being the sole all-steel church in the Philippines. The steel utilized in its construction was imported from Belgium and assembled in Manila during the latter part of the 1800s. The initial structure was constructed using wood, but it was unfortunately destroyed during the Chinese-Filipino uprising. The subsequent structure was built using bricks, but it too was destroyed, this time by a significant earthquake. The current structure is the third iteration, constructed using steel. Fortunate enough, we get to stay a little longer after the Mass. We walked near the altar, the priest welcomed & blessed us. At the moment, church is being restored as some parts are already deteriorating.

An amazing piece of steel engineering manufactured and assembled by Belgian engineers over 100 years ago. Currently under renovation, this is an amazing place to visit.

I attended a 5:15 PM Sunday Mass here on May 12, 2024. A truly beautiful and historic Catholic Church. As a USA citizen, it was an honor to fellowship with the Filipino Catholic community there.

The people managing the Foundation (tasked with the Basilica's preservation) are so accommodating. Am on unscheduled visit but they showed me around, the facsimile (machuca tiles) is a treat! And felt at home seeing the same designs of floor tiles with that of our Old Seminary and Cathedral at PPC.

This church is one of the most beautiful and historic churches in the country. It is well known for being the only church in Asia that is completely made of steel. Both the exterior and interior are designed with neo-gothic architecture, which is extremely rare in the Philippines. The mass I had here was one of the best masses I have ever attended. Highly recommend visiting if you are close to it.
